I recently had the opportunity to spend three separate days photographing professional headshots for the team at Apellis Pharmaceuticals during their work-from-Waltham event. The sessions included employees across multiple departments and roles, creating a consistent and approachable set of portraits for the company while making the process efficient and comfortable for everyone involved.

One of the things that stood out most throughout the sessions was the company culture at Apellis Pharmaceuticals. Everyone I photographed was welcoming, collaborative, and genuinely supportive of one another, which created an easygoing and positive atmosphere throughout all three days. That kind of environment makes a huge difference during headshot sessions and helps people feel more relaxed in front of the camera.

My approach to high-volume corporate headshots such as this one is designed to keep the experience smooth and efficient while still giving each person individual attention. Immediately after being photographed, employees are able to review their images directly on an iPad and select their favorite shots on the spot. This process helps streamline workflow for both the company and employees while also allowing people to feel confident about the final images being delivered.

By the third week of photographing, there was an added layer of energy throughout the office. News had just been announced that Apellis Pharmaceuticals would be acquired by Biogen, and conversations about the announcement were happening everywhere. There was a real sense of excitement and curiosity throughout the event, and it created a memorable atmosphere during the final day of sessions.
